Default What class is good in all aspects of pve?

I have tried all classes in pvp and love them all and now I need to make my main character in pve. Not sure what to go with. I just need too know what the general purpose pve class would be

I'm fairly new myself; but if you canvass online Video Tutorials, and such; I think you'll find Assassins are far and away the most represented class; so either Assassin's are particularly vain, or there are just more of them in the hands of the High Level Players who tend to post these things.

I know the mod's tend to shut down 'Best Class' threads.

But if you look at threads concerning how to accomplish actual missions or quests; vs just general opinion, on overall play; I think you'll find, as I did in my own (totally unscientific) survey of available online help; Assassin's and Rits dominate these posts for sheer number of entries.

I do think it is beyond doubt that Sln's dominate runner builds, and by extension have to have the greatest escapablity; survivability, and thus chance to avoid a complete party wipe; when things go bad.

It's not that I like Sin's (I honestly don’t like the whole Shadow Stepping concept at the heart of the class.) but my opinion of what I like; and what appears to be 'Best Play' (to borrow a chess concept) are not always the same thing. IMHO Sin's probably win in terms of 'Best Play." BB.

Not to dis Afya, I know that is the prevailing Dogma; but I believe it's demonstrably not true if you survey that available online help as to how to actually accomplish specific missions/ goals. nuff said by me. BB.

Edit: But there's no point talking in a Vacuum, I’ve got watch this week, but if the Mod’s leave this thread open, next week I’ll search; try to come up with 100 unique posters; and see what classes they run in their tutorials.

Anyone interested in helping Email me your results off list.

Poster, Character Class, URL, Subject.
I'll put them all in a Excel spread sheet, and link to it here; as soon as I have Data to post. BB.

Depends on what you envision yourself doing in PvE. To start, I would suggest don't use paragon. Assassins are a good choice because they are good damage dealers, runners, tanks, farmers, and speed clearers. Mesmers are a good choice because they are excellent in harder areas, are used in some speed clears, and can farm some things. Ritualists are good because they are versatile and very good traveler farmers. Elementalists are versatile nukers, necromancers are fun if you like raising the dead and cursing the other team, monks are useful in everything but difficult to get the hang of, rangers don't see much play but are very versatile, dervishes are good damage dealers and runners, warriors are good for absorbing and dealing damage.

I never use monks for anything, they are certainly not needed =P. Most teams want at least one rit and one necro though (spirits/minions/healing)

Sin is easy to start with since the deathblossom chain can be quickly aquired and is good enough for regular PvE. I play all 10 professions but atm I play paragon, mesmer and ritualist the most. Out of those 3 paragon and mesmer are kinda one sided so I would suggest the ritualist.

Ritualists are pretty much needed for everything in PvE and work great with heroes.

Note: This GW, not WoW. We have professions, not classes.

To be honest, the class you play isn't really important in terms of completing content in PvE; it comes down to the other 7 members of your party. I'd say just play the role in which you enjoy most (e.g. front liner, mid or back line).

The best profession is clearly necromancer. If you synergise your heroes optimally for your necro.

Alternatively, any melee player is the best because you can focus all the melee buffs from your party to yourself. If there is a "best profession" in PvE, then it is balanced to be equal to everything else.

and most teams DON"T NEED a sin neither :P

If you say heroes, yes, I myself don't even use monk hero when 7heroing. But as a healer in any full players team, monk > NRt or Rt healer anyday. The only exception maybe Emo in certain area/team build.
Got enough healers in the group? Switch to ROJ and there you go.

Overall, being a monk can get you in group (especially PuGs) almost everywhere. That includes every low end missions, about every manly spike group, both FFF SC and even SooSC these days.

That being said, it really depends on OP's playing style. sin isn't a bad choice either. Just try them out and you'll find YOUR CLASS.
